Raaka is making big waves in the movie market with people eagerly waiting for more details on the film’s cast and plot. The ambitious science fiction action movie, helmed by Atlee, stars Allu Arjun and Deepika Padukone. In the midst of all the excitement, there have been rumours circulating that actress Mrunal Thakur will be a part of the project. Mrunal has brushed away the rumours in various interviews in recent days but has yet to confirm or deny her involvement in the film. Her statement has given rise to a new round of speculations among movie lovers about the chances of her appearing at the screen with Allu Arjun and the upcoming film.
In a Mid-Day interview, Mrunal Thakur said that she had no tie-up with any film for the past nearly nine months. The actress said she was waiting for satisfying roles to come along which would give her recognition and creative satisfaction. She also said she would be announcing any new projects he may be working on on her social media. Her comment has reignited speculation for Raaka but she did not make it clear that she was part of Raaka. When asked whether she was doing the film in a separate interview with Hindustan Times, she narrated the situation with a good sense of humour saying, “I like it when you think I’m doing Raaka.” She also revealed that she would be telling everyone the projects that she was working on via social media, which would end the rumours.
Raaka is an upcoming pan-Indian movie directed by Atlee and produced by Sun Pictures. The project is the first of the duo (Allu Arjun and the filmmaker) together and it has created a lot of fun among the fans of Telugu films and Indian commercial films. The other confirmed cast members include Deepika Padukone. The movie has garnered interest for its lofty ambitions, eccentric first-look poster and rumored science-fiction action scenes. As per India Today’s earlier report that was published in July 2026, the project was being planned as a 2-part franchise, with different timelines, one historical and another contemporary. That report also attributed Mrunal Thakur to the modern day story. But these reports come from the film industry and it is essential that the audience treat them as unverifiable information and not as a fact; the film makers have not officially confirmed these casting details.
It’s a matter of speculation whether Mrunal Thakur will be a part of the film considering that the ensemble cast of the movie is in the spotlight. Mrunal is a popular figure in Telugu and Hindi cinema, having starred in several popular films like Sita Ramam. It has thus begun to be discussed among movie fans whether she would be able to join the cast of Allu Arjun with Atlee for the film. Meanwhile, the popularity of Allu Arjun has continued since Pushpa 2: The Rule, increasing the expectations from his next big venture. Atlee, who has earlier helmed the blockbuster Jawan, is also acknowledged for making big-scale business entertainers. Other actresses have been mentioned in various news reports and some aspects of the plot have been mentioned, but the only way to know the last word is the one that is stated by the production team.
So is Mrunal Thakur a part of Allu Arjun? She’s still officially unconfirmed for participation as of October 13, 2026. Her recent remarks didn’t confirm nor outright deny the possibility, but earlier reports have indicated that she will be playing a crucial role in the film. The news will not be confirmed until fans are given word by Mrunal or the filmmakers. As all this is set to be an interesting movie with Allu Arjun and Atlee working together on the film, Raaka is still one of the most anticipated upcoming Indian films with Deepika Padukone. While Mrunal Thakur is being talked about as a casting, the topic should not be considered as official news about the movie till further details are officially confirmed.
